Samuel Adams 3rd Annual ACBW Pig Roast 

Are you a fan of live bluegrass music, fresh cooked BBQ, and Samuel Adams beer?

Join us as we kick off American Craft Beer Week with our 3rd Annual ACBW Pig Roast at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery!

We’ll be getting hogwild along with our friends from Blue Ribbon BBQ. the Four Bridge Bluegrass Band, and Nelson Hiller and Friends on Friday May 12th from 6-9pm. We’ll be roasting several whole pigs, serving up pulled chicken and pork, all the sides n’ fixin’s, homemade beer BBQ sauces and of course plenty of brewery-exclusive Samuel Adams Beer!

Your Ticket includes a full BBQ dinner (Vegetarian option available), 2 different bluegrass bands, and six 7 oz beer samples. We’ll be opening our doors to the Boston Brewery as well as our Beer Garden for one of our favorite parties of the year. Grab your flannel and come on down!

Union Square Farmers Market Opening Day

Union Square Main Streets is very pleased to be managing our fabulous Union Square Farmers Market this summer, building on the great work that Mimi Graney and Mary Cat Chaikin have done.
The Union Square Farmers Market will open on Saturday, May 13th.

We made our selection with the goal of having a mix of vendors who will:

– Provide great, fresh, healthy locally-grown produce;
– Offer a broad mix of products;
– Ensure a fiscally sound market that will enable USMS to continue to provide this Market for the community this year and in years to come; and,
– Create a welcoming, friendly and safe community and shopping environment for patrons, vendors and staff. You can find the full list of vendors on our website.

Boston Bacon & Beer Festival 

The 8th annual Boston Bacon and Beer Festival hosted by the Red Sox Foundation at Fenway Park for the 3rd straight year. On Saturday May 13th from 12:30 to 3PM, come sample dishes from Boston’s best restaurants and chefs, to be washed down by a variety of regional beers. NEW THIS YEAR: Along with everything the VIP ticket came with in the past, this year’s VIP ticket includes EARLY entry to the event AND a bleacher ticket to that evening’s baseball game. As always, this event benefits the Red Sox Foundation, Community Servings, and Lovin’ Spoonfuls!

Somerville PorchFest 

On Saturday, May 13, 2017 musicians and bands throughout Somerville will celebrate and utilize an underused public venue: The Porch. Acts—ranging from bollywood funk, cosmic americana, killer blues, Moroccan, Balkan, gospel, American space rock and clawhammer banjo—will serenade passersby from porches throughout Somerville.

There are three time slots for the day based on three quadrants of the city; east of Central St. will be 12-2; Central St. to Willow Ave. will be 2-4; west of Willow St. 4-6.

Boston Beer Summit 

The Boston Beer Summit is a craft beer tasting that features the best local and regional brewers.
We’ve been doing this since 1999, and we still love it. The beers and trends have changed, and that means we can keep getting better every show.
This event will have many of the best local, regional brewers featured alongside some of the greatest national and international brewers in the world. Everyone will be bringing both their well known year round and less common seasonal brews.

An Evening with the Music of John Williams: A Concert to Benefit the Urology Care Foundation

Relive the magic of some of movie’s greatest music! This spectacular event will celebrate the work of John Williams, the legendary composer and Grammy award winner credited with scoring such Hollywood blockbusters as Star Wars, Jaws, Superman and more. This not-to-be-missed event will feature Maestro Jonathan McPhee and the Lexington Symphony, with accompaniment by the New World Chorale, and emceed by Paula Ebben, Co-Anchor WBZ-TV CBS Boston. Annual Duckling Day Parade 

The Friends of the Public Garden will celebrate Mother’s Day with Boston-area families during its annual Duckling Day parade on Sunday May 14th. A beloved tradition for over 30 years, the parade celebrates the children’s classic book Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey. Every year, hundreds of children parade through Boston’s most picturesque parks, dressed like characters from the story. Led by the Harvard University Marching Band, the parade will begin in the Boston Common at the Parkman Bandstand and end in the Public Garden near the famous Make Way for Ducklings sculptures. Bring your cameras – this is the most adorable event in all of Boston!

Prior to the parade will be Playtime on the Common, a vibrant array of family entertainment including crafts, face painters, a magician, and climbing and jumping with the Knucklebones crew.  All families are welcome to decorate their wagons or strollers, bring a picnic, and enjoy springtime in Boston’s most beloved parks!

Mother’s Day Flower Arranging & Market Brunch with Stow Greenhouses 

Celebrate Mother’s Day at The KITCHEN at The Boston Public Market with this fun, hands-on floral design class. This class is geared towards mothers and their children of all ages (6+). Using locally grown, seasonal flowers, Barbara Rietscha of Stow Greenhouses, will teach you how to create a flower arrangement. Flowers that are typically in season at this time of year include tulips, ranunculus, anemone, lilies and daffodils.

You will learn the basic techniques of floral design, color composition and care instructions. All floral materials, supplies and containers are provided and each participant will go home with a finished arrangements.

While you create your arraignment you’ll eat a brunch spread sourced entirely from Boston Public Market vendors, including:

•Assorted mini bagels and spreads from Levend Bagelry
•Yogurt & granola parfaits from Appleton Farms
•Macaroons of all flavors from Finesse Bakery
•Teas from Soluna Garden Farm
•Coffee from George Howell Coffee

Mother’s Day Yoga 

Center yourself this Mother’s Day with a special class in honor of our most important women. Center your mind, body, and soul with this class. Bring your mom whether she’s got her headstand down to a science, or she’s never seen a yoga mat before. All levels of yoga expertise are welcome.

This is an outdoor class. Please bring your yoga mat and water. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled.
